The first Guardians of the Galaxy was released back in August 2014 and it took some of the enigmatic yet unknown/weird heroes from the Marvel Comics and put them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and pushed them to household name. Now, all of a sudden we're all very comfortable with the ideas of a belligerent gun-totting raccoon with his "giving" tree saving the universe with a bunch of other misfits. And as its sequel - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is releasing tomorrow, we got some reasons why you should join Star-Lord (Crisp Rat, no it's Chris Pratt), not a legendary outlaw but as 1 time Galaxy saver and his friends at your nearest theatre.
An expanded family than ever!
Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot all had their tragic reasons for being alone in the universe, but by the end of Vol. 1, they had formed a full-fledged surrogate family. But wait, there's always room for more members, right? I mean just look at the Avengers. It had 6 members in the first film. By the Avengers: Age of Ultron came out there were a couple of addition to the rooster. From the trailer, we can say Michael Rooker's Yondu and Mantis played by french actress Pom Klementieff will be joining the team a long with Karen Gillan's Nebula whom we all despised in the first film.
Kurt Russell's "massive" presence.
He's quite famous for cult classics like 'Escape from New York' and 'Big Trouble in Little China'. And the new generation moviegoers knows him for portraying Mr. Nobody from the last two 'The Fast & the Furious'. He'll be seen portraying the human embodiment of Ego, the living planet.
Belly tickling actions!
The Guardians of the Galaxy are the masters of dropping wisecracks even during the most intense battles. So far, we've treated with Star-Lord been uncomfortable around others holding guns. Rocket desperate search for tape and Drax screaming hysterically "Screw you, spaceship!" and one thing you can be assure of that, they are only at the tip of the comedic iceberg.
Biggest VFX ever?!
For Ego, the living planet, it was said to be the biggest VFX that anybody had ever seen. In an interview with Empire Magazine, director James Gunn claimed that CG model of Ego is composed of over a trillion polygons. He added, "The biggest visual effect of all time. There's nothing even close to it."
Baby Groot!
"I am Groooooooot!!"
It really doesn't matter whether you are a Marvel fan or DC fan, you got to love this character and that too in a baby form! Groot, the gentle giant with limited vocabulary is now Baby Groot!
We already know that he's a mean dancer and now he's no longer a sapling in a plant pot. So, what we can expect from this fella?
Well, a bit of goofism mixed with innocence! Yeah, Perfect!
More 'Drax'tic humor.
Well, let's be honest, nobody expected a fame WWE wrestler to be the comic relief in the 1st Guardians movie, but Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer duplexes our expectations with his performance as someone who isn't trying to be funny but still is a hilarious character. From the trailer itself, it looks like thesaurus hasn't really learned anything since the last time we saw him.
Awesome new mixtape.
The soundtrack album of the first film was a huge hit as it went platinum. So yeah, the expectations are very high for the Awesome Mix Vol. 2. Sweet's "Fox on the Run" is definitely one of the chart-topping hits which is in the movie.
The inevitable post-credits scene(s).
It was recently announced by director James Gunn that there are not just one or two but five post-credits scenes. We know that Guardians will be appearing along stellar cast of Avengers in next year's Avengers: Infinity War and and the untitled fourth Avengers film. It is confirmed that there will be a credits scene where Sylvester Stallone's character Starhawk reunites with his ex-teammates, the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Baby Groot isn't a baby anymore and the buzz is Stan "the Man" Lee is playing Uatu (chances are pretty slim), a watcher who is assigned to watch Earth and it's affairs.
Deep inside, I really hope that somehow Fox and Marvel strikes the deal so that we could finally see X-Men and Fantastic 4 fighting along our favorite Avengers on big screen.
Get your seatbelts on and get ready for a cosmic, nah comic roller coaster ride. Movie features ensemble cast Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Michael Rooker's Yondu as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as High Priestess Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin with Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Good/Starhawk and Kurt Russell as Ego.
